OWE 1 – 1 Southport
Probably the best team OWE have played this season is Southport. So everyone was expecting a good, hard and entertaining game.
Southport started the game brighter and had a couple of efforts on goal. OWE first real attack ended with Harvey shooting just wide, it was a great effort. OWE started to get into the game more and a good move ended with George having a shot which hit the post and was cleared to safety. Just on the stroke of half time Southport pumped a long ball into the area and the number 8 headed the ball into the net giving Ben no chance.
Southport started the second half on the attack and Ben made a good save. OWE started
to get into the game more and got a free kick on the edge of the area. Robert stepped
up, WHAT A GOAL!!! OWE are back in the game and were really putting Southport under
pressure. Lewis had a good effort and George had a shot but the keeper made a good
save. Then seven minutes to go, a cross was played into the area and the shouts from
the players and touchline of OWE “HANDBALL!!!”, the referee shouted play on. As monsieur's
Hansen and Lawrenson would say on Match of the Day, “I have seen them given.” Not
today and the game finished 1-
