Ormskirk Westend kicked off 2012 with a convincing win on a heavy pitch and windy conditions. Westend took early control of the game producing a flurry of corners and goal mouth action but it took some good wing play from Lewis to beat his man and cross for George R to put Westend in the lead. Ormskirk FC responded though with a breakaway goal to make it level before a long range effort from George R was too much to handle for the Ormskirk keeper to put Westend back in front again. In the last minute of the first half another excellent corner from George R saw James R head home.
Westend end played some good football in the 2nd half and made it 4 when Matty O pounced in the box for his right foot shot to beat the keeper, Lewis made it 5 when he collected the ball on the edge of the area and curled a great shot in the top corner. West end were now in total control and another cross from James R saw Joseph head home from close range. Ormskirk FC collected a consolation at the end. The result keeps westend 2nd in the league, Nathan was named man of the match for controlling the game in the middle of the pitch
