10th September 2011: OWE 1 – 1 Burscough

With the team being joined by the summer signing from rivals Burscough, Lee (LC), who had impressed in a pre-season friendly and with Ben being called away from keeping duties to spectate at Goodison this opener was always going to be close.

 

OWE started the stronger side applying some early pressure that paid off when Lewis got on the end of a low crossed ball to give OWE the lead. This seemed to kick start Burscough into action and they soon equalised.

 

After that it was a battle between the bass boom of Paul Cooper and the treble tremble of the Burscough manager. Whilst the pitch of one’s appeals lowered the pitch of the other’s increased so that by the end only the local cats and dogs could hear what he was saying.

 

Second half attempts saw Lewis head onto the bar and Robert also find the bar but neither team could break the deadlock and had to share the points.
