Tarleton Corinthians 0-2 OWE (League)
Great game of football, by two strong teams. OWE had most possession of the ball in the first half. OWE remained strong and it resulted in the first goal being scored by Jordan Seddon. The boys carried on and a second goal was scored by Saul Dale, created by a controlled pass from Joe Stanley. 2-0 half time.
Second half Tarleton came out strong, yet again, and nearly scored, but it was saved brilliantly by Peter, the goalkeeper. OWE defence, Ben and Joel, defended brilliantly and the second half remained goalless. Tarleton kept OWE busy. Great game all round.

OWE 1-2 Redgate Green (League)
OWE had their first defeat today, but certainly not through lack of trying. If ever there was 2 evenly matched teams, this was it today, and the result could of gone either way!
Both teams were strong and physical and the first goal of the game was scored by Lewis D, which was the result of a free kick. Both teams battled on, and Redgate scored their equalizer. 1-1 half time.
2nd half, Redgate were strong, and hence their 2nd goal. Chances were created to equalize by OWE but sadly never materialised.
This was a really exciting game today, well done to both teams...
Goalscorer: Lewis Dunn (1)
Jags Red 3-3 OWE (League)
OWE were away today, playing Jag Reds, and a heated game of football it was. Both teams were desperately wanting the points, but it was Mathew Carrigan (OWE), who got the first goal, about 5 minutes into the game. The Jags fought back, and soon got their equalizer. The boys carried on, Midfield working hard, and a penalty was given to OWE as a result of a handball. Mathew Carrigan took it and buried it. 2-1 to OWE at half time.
2nd half, let the battle commence! Jags were trying to get one back, but credit to Peter, our goalie, once again doing a fantastic job, by keeping those goals at bay. Both teams working hard, and the Jags managed to get an equalizer once again. Tension filled the air, and the Jags scored another one. It was now 3-2 and with only about 4 minutes left of the game, OWE never gave up! A throw in from Joe Stanley, which rebounded off a Jag's head, back to Joe's left foot flick onto Mathew Carrigan, who volleyed it in the back of the net! 3-3..
Mathew Carrigan took up the role of Captain today, and what a way to take it, getting himself a hat trick in the process, and giving OWE a well deserved point! Well done boys.

Redgate Black 0-6 OWE (League)
OWE were away today, but started attacking straight away, and within minutes the first goal was made, by Jordan Seddon. This seemed to calm the nerves, and from then on Seddon was on a roll!! Over the next ten minutes or so, Seddon had bedded another 2 goals. OWE's passing paid off and what can only be described as a "beautiful" pass from Mathew Carrigan to Seddon, who sealed the deal, making it his 4th goal in the first half.
4-0 half time.
2nd half seen the Redgates that bit stronger and OWE's midfield and defence, had to work hard to keep them at bay. However, Jordan Seddon was still on the attack and he blasted the ball at the goal keeper, who in turn saved it, but it rebounded and Saul Dale slotted it home. The game carried on, all the boys working hard, M Carrigan and J Stanley, both looked as if they were going to score, but they just couldn't get it in the back of the net! Some lovely passing today from OWE and just to finalize the game, S Dale buried the 6th and final goal of the game.
Although Redgates goal keeper was the busier, our goalie, still denied them the chance to score, when they tried.
I have to say, that although we won 6-0, this was a good game of footy and Redgate, never gave up, excellent spirit!!
Well done to all the boys....

OWE 5-0 Southport FC JB (League)
OWE, were away again today, playing Southport FC JB. After a bye last week, OWE wanted the points today and started dominating the game immediately. It was early doors for Joe Stanley with an absolute cracking header to get the game under way 1-0. The pressure was on, both teams down Southport's end, all wanting the ball, it was being passed from player to player, you could feel that another goal was brewing, the tension was mounting, and then with a sly back pass from Joe Stanley to Lewis Dunn, who calmly slid the ball into the back of the net! 2-0. Still dominating the game, OWE were wanting more, and chased the ball continuously, with a lovely pass from Lewis Dunn to Lewis Smalley made the game 3-0 half time.
2nd half started slowly. Southport trying to get one back, but the brilliant defenders Ben and Joel just wouldnt allow them the opportunity today!
I've said before about OWE's passing, but it really is getting better and better and with again another lovely pass from Joe Stanley to Jordan Seddon and hence another goal 4-0. OWE kept up the pressure, and Mathew Carrigan not wanting to be left out, decided he was gonna get a goal and that he did! 5-0.
Today's football was a real team effort and all the boys played well. Credit to Southport FC JB. .....
Goal Scorers: Joseph Stanley (1); Lewis Dunn (1); Lewis Smalley (1); Jordan Seddon (1); Mathew Carrigan (1).
OWE 4-3 Redgate Black (League)
OWE welcoming Redgate Black at home today and it started off spritely with OWE having most possession and again it was early doors for Jordan Seddon, scoring the first goal of the game. Panic set in though as Redgate nearly equalized straight after, only luckily peter was on the case and saved it! The game settled down and a further three goals were made, another one by Seddo, Saul Dale added himself to the score card as did Lewis Dunn. Credit to all goal scorers. 4-0 half time.
2nd half and possibly OWE came out a bit too confident, and for whatever reason, midfield broke down, giving Redgate the opportunity to score, and they did, three goals, and credit to Redgate for taking full advantage. It actually could of been distrastous for OWE, only the super Joel Seddon saved the game, he had a good run forward, got tackled, Redgate broke free and Joel ran all the way back, and literally kicked the ball out from going in the back of the net!
Still a good game, enjoyed by all.
Goal Scorers: Jordan Seddon 2; Saul Dale 1; Lewis Dunn 1
Ainsdale Juniors 1-4 OWE (League)
On this rememberance Sunday, OWE were away today on Ainsdale turf, and let me tell you we seen a much improved Ainsdale at that! Both teams held their own, and goal opportunities were created, but they were either denied by the goalie or the post! Still battling on, it was Ainsdale who scored first. This must of calmed the nerves because several minutes later OWE got their equalizer from Mathew Carrigan.
1-1 half time
2nd half and OWE had gathered their thoughts and realised that Ainsdale were up for this. Nerves settled and OWE turned up the heat, and a pass from Lewis Dunn to Saul Dale seen the second goal flutter into the back of the net. Another goal from Mathew Carrigan and OWE were back to their best. Like i've said before a much improved Ainsdale, never gave up and made this a difficult game today. The ever dependable defence team, Ben Gore (captain) and Joel Seddon, were fantastic today, stopping Ainsdale in their prime. Ben Gore nearly scored, as did Joe Stanley, both boys were very unlucky they never went in. 4th and final goal came from a lovely volley from Lewis Smalley.
OWE played well today, considering we were 1-0 down, to come back and win 4-1, is a real credit to them, their manager and their parents. Well done OWE.
Goalscorers: Mathew Carrigan (2) Saul Dale (1) Lewis Smalley (1)
Southport Trinity ‘B’ 2-2 OWE (League)
OWE away today at Trinity B's ground, seen the first half of the game slow. Trinity dominated, and OWE let them. As a result they got the first goal.
1-0 half time.
2nd half, OWE woke up and put pressure on Trinity. Saul Dale however, got OWE the equalizer, which was brilliant, he by-passed Trinity's defence and goal keeper and buried the goal. Now the game was anyone's, and it continued with chances at both ends, both goalies worked really hard, by keeping these goals out! Lewis Smalley and Mathew Carrigan, both did some good tackles today, taking on Trinity's biggest lad (sorry dont no his name, only his number 7), while Joe Stanley used his head to pass/get rid of the ball, on many ocassions!
Lewis Dunn took us in the lead with a lovely goal that seemed to, in slow motion, just hop over the goalies head and go in. Our defence duo, Joel Seddon (captain) and Ben Gore, were just brill today, and Joel was on top form, he was absolutely everywhere, if we had a man of the match, in my opinion it would of been him! However, Trinity kept up the pace and it resulted in a late equalizer.
The game finished 2-2, both teams deserving of the points.
Goal Scorers Saul Dale (1) Lewis Dunn (1)
OWE 3-0 Tarleton Corinthians (League)
OWE at home welcoming Tarleton Corinthians today. The game started quickly with both Tarleton and OWE wanting to dominate. Lewis Dunn had 2 unlucky shots, that hit the goal post. The same with Tarleton, Peter OWE's goalie did some good strong saves. Tarleton were strong. Joel and Ben, brilliant as usual. Joel all over the place and Ben did some cracking powerful kicks today! Then Joel Seddon ran down the pitch, passed to Mathew Carrigan, who took the shot, it re-bounded, and Saul Dale scored. The second goal was similar, only it was Jordan Seddon who took a fanastic shot, came back out and luckily Saul Dale was there to nail it!
2-0 half time
2nd half, couple of changes and OWE took a few minutes to adjust. Once they did, they dominated the 2nd half. Joe Stanley was unlucky with a couple of his attempts, one with this feet the other with his head. Jordan Seddon was a bit like Torres in Liverpool's game yesterday against Newcastle, boy did he try, but the ball just refused to go in! The passing was great, one in particular like a zig zag, Joe Stanley to Mathew Carrigan straight to Jordan, just ripped through the heart of Tarleton's defence, just unlucky it never went in... Then a corner came, Mathew took it, straight to Joe Stanley's head,,,,back of the net!!! 3-0..
A great game of end to end football today. Great result, well done OWE..
Goal Scorers Saul Dale (2) Joe Stanley (1)
Redgate Green 1-1 OWE (League)
OWE away today playing Redgate Green. Both teams played well, considering the weather! But the first half remained goalless, but not through lack of trying. 0-0
2nd half, it rained and rained it was cold and windy, but the heat on the pitch was electrifying! It was Redgate who scored first, and I have to say both goalies, did some super saves! I must also point out that Ben Gore was outstanding today, stopping Redgate every time, superb Ben, well done! Still the game and the boys battled on, and it was Saul Dale who got the equalizer. This was a feisty game and both teams up for it. However, it remained a drawer and both teams deserving of the point.
This was an excellent result for OWE, as Redgate beat us last time. We are improving, well done boys keep it up!
Goalscorer: Saul Dale (1)
OWE 4-3 Jags Red (Jim Rourke Trophy - After extra time and penalties)
OWE playing our rivals Jags Red. OWE did possess most of the ball and credit to their goalie for some good saves. Just before half time OWE's hard work, payed off and OWE scored.
1-0 half time.
2nd half and both teams came out strong, however, a penalty was given due to handball and Jags equalised... The game carried on pretty much the same, and theres no denying that these two teams are very well matched!
The game went to extra time with neither team managing to score. It was obvious that penalties were coming and they did.
OWE won 4-3
Exciting game, very thrilling from beginning to end. Well done both teams for their continued pace considering it was such a long match!
Goalscorer: Jordan Seddon (1)
Penalty scorers: Lewis Dunn, Ben Gore, Joe Stanley and Saul Dale.
OWE 4-1 Ainsdale Juniors (League)
West End had a weakened team today with two players missing, Peter the goalie and our number 10, Joe Stanley, but you wouldn’t have thought it. Ainsdale dominated the early exchanges though and after only 10 minutes they scored. They continued to dominate, with Ainsdale's number 10, their leader. Luckily, 3 minutes before first half, Jordan Seddon had a shot, it rebounded and Saul Dale made it 1-1 at half time.
2nd half, OWE gathering their composure, and played the 2nd half in a much more domineering manner. 3 minutes into the 2nd half, a corner was taken and a brave header from the near post from Jordan Seddon made it 2-1. Game on! Nerves settled and Mathew Carrigan made it 3-1. Still the game carried on, Lewis Smalley, won a tackle and scored himself. 4-1, and that’s how the game ended. I must also say a big well done for Lewis Dunn, who went in goal today. You were fantastic.
Well done Ainsdale for a great spirit and always a really friendly atmosphere. We wish you well in the league.
Goal Scorers: Saul Dale, Jordan Seddon, Mathew Carrigan, Lewis Smalley
OWE 1-1 Southport Trinity ‘B’ (League)
OWE at home playing Trinity B, they were a man down, but you'd never of guessed it, they played their socks off! OWE however, just didn’t have the flow right today, conceding a goal early doors.
However, our captain, Mathew Carrigan, rescued the situation and equalized, 3 minutes into the game!!!
Well you can imagine the nerves? And that was just us!
It was pretty much end to end football, and luckily Peter the goalie was on top form. There were a few goal mouth scrambles. But first half was 1-1.
2nd half, whistle blew and Trinity blasted the ball at Peter, which he saved brilliantly. There were times when Westend showed their lovely passing, Lewis to Mathew, but the ball just wouldn’t go in. Jordan was really unlucky too, time and time again, denied either by their goalie, or the post. Chances were created to take the lead, but sadly didn’t materialise. There were goal mouth scrambles in the 2nd half too, but neither team scored.
Trinity will be pleased with the point earned and quite right. I'm not making excuses, but I think the own goal, panicked Westend and they never quite recovered. But you know what, game over, move on and get ready for the next game.
Beautiful weather conditions and a great atmosphere.
Goalscorer: Matthew Carrigan (1)
OWE 1-1 Tarleton Corinthians (League)
OWE drew again, at Tarleton this fine weekend. A result which has now changed the dynamics of the league, and its also left West End pondering, over their failure of turning possession into goals. First half of the game, West End did have most possession and their goalie, was by far the busier. Great football from both teams, great tackles, although some were a little more challenging than others! However neither team scored and first half was 0-0.
2nd half, Tarleton came out strong and attacked immediately, Peter did some exceptional saves. Ben and Joel, never gave up, stopping Tarleton in their prime. But Tarleton too, never gave up and as a result they scored. The pressure was on, it resulted in end to end football, both teams defending brilliantly. OWE got a throw in, taken by Joel, to Joe who did a backpass to Lewis Dunn, who equalized! This was an action packed game today and also the final result.
Goalscorer: Lewis Dunn (1)
OWE 12 - 0 Jaguar Whites (League)
OWE at home welcoming Jag's White, for the 2nd time in only a matter of weeks. Game started spritely with chances for WestEnd and Jags, but both goalies stood firm in their box. However, Westend remained strong and the first goal was scored by Saul Dale. This was followed by a second goal resulted from a free kick for Lewis Dunn. Game carried on with Jags still pushing for goals, but our defence team Ben Gore and Joel Seddon were not giving anything away today, and neither was Peter! Our midfield kept pushing forward and Jordan Seddon got himself one too.
3-0 first half.
A bizzare incident with Joe Stanley (captain) resulted in a nose bleed at the end of the first half, and had to come off, for the beginning of the second half. Subs were made and the game continued. The Jag's were still striving for results, but no goals were made on their behalf. Saul Dale however, got himself another one. OWE made more changes and Joe and Lewis were back on. Suddenly the game changed and Westend created goal after goal. They tore through Jag's defence, and Mathew Carrigan, Joe Stanley, Lewis Smalley and Lewis Dunn all scored (and yes Brian, you owe him that tenner!) The Jag's too made some changes to try and regain some composure, but it just wasnt going to be today. I did notice though that they were missing Zayn today. Its funny because we played them only a couple of weeks ago and it was a tough game, we did win 2-0, but it was a tough game nevertheless. We can only congradulate the Jags and their parents for keeping their spirits up, it was a long game, but them boys still battled on. Joe Stanley was captain today, and he played it well, he took leadership and ran the team. Great team effort today boys. Well done, you should all be proud! The game ended 12-0.

OWE 1-1 Southport FC Juniors (League)
OWE at home today welcoming the visitors Southport FCJB. Both teams had chances to score, and Southport's goalie made some cracking saves, keeping his team in the game. First half remained goalless.
2nd half, both teams striving for that important goal to get the points and Westend scored first, Mathew Carrigan (captain) was the goal scorer. Southport never gave up, and in turn they got the equalizer. We did get a goal to take us in the lead, but it was disallowed. Southport have really improved and it was a pleasurable match even though it was freezing! The game ended 1-1 and we look forward to seeing you again this Sunday.
Well done boys.

OWE 5-1 Southport FC Jnr B (League)owevsouthportjnrb
OWE playing Southport FCJB for the 2nd time this week. Westend dominated today and after several attempts it was only a matter of time before they scored. The goalie kicked the ball out, Joe Stanley controlled and wacked it into the top corner, practically from the half way line. Super goal!
1.0 half time
2nd half, again West End dominated and it was our turn against the wind. Still they strived to get that other goal to try and claim the game, OWE kept pushing forward and making Southport's defence work hard, and they did as a corner was given. Lewis Dunn put a lovely cross in and Joe Stanley did a wrap-around volley and buried it! 2-0. Confidence was high and back on a roll. Even our defender Ben Gore scored, but unfortunately it was disallowed, still a good goal Ben.. A pass from Lewis Smalley to Saul who made the third. Two further goals from Mathew Carrigan (captain) and Jordan Seddon. Southport managed to get one back which was a good volley from their number 19.. The game ended 5-1.
Another good game today. Well done boys
Goalscorers: Joe Stanley (2) Saul Dale (1) Jordan Seddon (1) Mathew Carrigan (1)
OWE 4-3 Jags Red (League)
Final game today and we new it was going to be close and it didnt disappoint! As Jags have mentioned they were a man down, but played well considering. Game started spritely and Mathew Carrigan scored to get the game going. Jags equalized quickly after. Game continued in pretty much end to end footy. Saul Dale got himself an excellent goal to take us in the lead and because it was end to end Jags equalized again.
2nd half, similar to the first and Jags got their 3rd goal, Westend didnt give up and Lewis Dunn got us the equalizer and then Jordan Seddon hit the crossbar and Lewis Dunn got the re-bound. Joel Seddon saved us on the line as did Peter and therefore we got the 3 points, well deserved!
Well done boys for your continued hard work and effort this season. A big thanks to Phil for getting the lads to this level. Enjoy your holiday phil cos we've got loads of suggestions for when you get back!!! LOL LOL
